Sample Sheet
Sample sheet, 128 x 203mm (5 x 8in), produced to assist in the choice of colour and style of engraving for those ordering bespoke stationery.
An attractive sheet with fifteen examples of the engravers art, die stamped in different colours, produced by G E Oliver, engraver and die sinker, of Edinburgh, Scotland.
G E Oliver was probably a descendant of George Oliver who was in business as an engraver and die sinker in Edinburgh in 1865 when he
designed stamps for The Edinburgh & Leith Circular Delivery Company.
The sheet is believed to date from some time after 1896 when the firm of Harrison, organ builders, took the style Harrison & Harrison. Copyright © Edward Law Collection 2003
