This print titled "The Revd Mr Kicherer, Mary, John, Martha" bears the pencil annotation, The first converted Negroes. I saw them at Orange Street Chapel and shook hands with them all..Mary & John married.

Published by T. Williams, Stationers Court, London, 1st January 1804, 172 x 108mm (6¾ x 4¼in).

Jacobus Johannes Kicherer, born 1775 in The Netherlands, was one of the first missionaries sent to South Africa by the London Missionary Society and arrived in the Cape in March 1799. Together with three converted indigenous southern Africans, a married couple and another female, he returned to London in 1803.
